Description:
A granite monument is placed with a flagpole. The monument is inscribed: "In Memory Of ~ The Loyal Dead ~ From The ~ Perryville W.R.C. ~ No. 114 ~ June 1892".
There is a hole in the top of the monument indicating that there was once a top decoration of some type.

Hutchinson, Reno County
Soldiers and Sailors Monument (1st and Walnut)
Type: Granite Soldier Statue and Cannons
Description:
Grand Army of the Republic Soldiers and Sailors Monument in this area once known as Lincoln Park. The cannon were initially dedicated in a public ceremony on June 28, 1917. The monument was dedicated on Flag Day in June of 1919. The monument area was rededicated with a rebuilt park area and replacement (ductile iron) carriages on June 1, 2004. It is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The figure on the northwest corner of the monument is the Artilleryman, part of a cannon crew. The figure on the southwest corner is the Infantryman, the branch of the Union Army that had the most members. On the southeast corner is the Cavalryman, the mounted part of the army. The figure on the northeast corner is that of the Sailor, who manned the Union's various sailing vessels. They surround their Commander in Chief, President Abraham Lincoln.
The inscription on the monument says "Lest We Forget ~In Memory Of All Soldiers and Sailors Loyal To Our Flag"

Wild Mead Cemetery (north west of town)
Type: Granite Soldier Statue
Description:
A Soldier at parade rest surmounts a square granite column. A carved scroll is inscribed: "Dedicated to ~ The Memory Of ~ The Patriots ~ Who Offered And ~ Gave Their Lives ~That The Nation ~ Might Not Perish ~ 1861-1865".
The sides of the column have inscriptions "Erected By ~ The G.A.R. Hall ~ Association ~ 1914" and "G.A.R. ~ & ~ W.R.C.".

Type: Iron Fence
Description:
Iron letters and numbers are attached to a fence corner. These include: "Who Wins", "Some Gave All", and numbers 47424 (Vietnam deaths), 291557 (WW I deaths) 4371 (Iraq deaths) 940 (Afghanistan deaths) 33741 (Korea deaths). The numbers change as more casualties are reported.
